Mayor's Office

Mayor Lisle Cheatham was first elected in 2003 and is currently serving his third term as Mayor for the City of Greensburg.

Boards and committee involvement:

  • the Executive Board of the Kentucky League of Cities
  • the Board of Directors of Leadership Kentucky, Inc.
  • the State local Distribution Fund Oversight Committee, where he is currently serving his second term. Mayor Cheatham was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear to serve on this committee.
  • as Chairperson of the Greensburg Housing Authority
  • the Board of Directors of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District.
  • a member of the Council on Post-Secondary Education’s task force to expand post-secondary education availability to rural parts of Kentucky, including Greensburg and Green County.

Over his time in office, Mayor Cheatham has worked hard to bring needed funding and improvements to the community to improve the quality of life and increase economic opportunity.

Investments to Date:

To date there has been over $8 million in investment made into our community to renovate and revitalize the downtown, make desperately needed improvements to both the water and wastewater systems as well as improving streets and road access to the community.  During this time the City has also worked to create the Green River Paddle Trail and make it a destination for visitors as well as create the City’s first park with the opening of the Greensburg Fitness and Disc Golf Park in the spring of 2013.

Projects and Improvements:

Currently, the Mayor and City Council are working hard to build a much needed water treatment facility to replace the current 50 year old facility as well as create the first leg of the proposed “Greenway Belt” to promote walking, jogging, biking as well as skating in and around the City of Greensburg.

Other projects due to be completed soon:

  • Greensburg Community and Senior Citizen Center
  • the communities first TIF District to provide incentives for new business and industry.

With the completion of these two projects, nearly $10 million in additional investment to the community will be made.
